It's Our Healthcare

It’s OUR Healthcare!

Anthony Wright
Executive Director, Health Access California

A new father has to work two jobs just to make sure his family has healthcare coverage and can afford to pay the $400 a month it costs. In the meantime, he’ll be missing much of his daughter’s childhood.

A mother worries so much about her uninsured teenage son that she bans him from playing basketball, fearful of a sports injury.

A healthy, fit woman in her 50’s battles insurance companies over an earlier diagnosis that now prevents her from purchasing healthcare in the individual market.

These are just a few of the 35 million healthcare stories in California, and as California’s elected leaders weigh how to help make our healthcare work better for all Californians, it’s time to make sure they’re listening to us.

This website is a place to share stories and (soon) videos, as well as a place to learn about what’s happening in the healthcare reform debate this year. It is a place to take action and weigh in on reform. A place for US to decide about OUR healthcare and take responsibility for something that matters so much to each and every one of us.

We are a coalition representing over 9 million Californians, and we are coming together to claim the strongest and most central voice in healthcare reform. After all, It’s OUR Healthcare!

I don't see any comments regarding the single payer bill, SB 840, in your material. Health Access has said in the past it supports single payer as the only real reform needed.
Has the focus changed?

we need socialized medicine.
we need campaign reform, then a bribe is named, not pushed under the rug as campaign donation or a lobbying effort. this is the only answer.
i have friends in the european countries and canada, no one, and i mean no one would trade their medical care with ours.we DO NOT NEED INSURANCE COMPANIES. we do need what sweden has, what canada has.
i don't know why insurance companies are even in the discussion enless one has large holdings in one or more of the companies;or expect a healthy return from supporting them one way or another.
